Valkyrie

Word: Valkyrie. noun
Definition: *Female figures who decides who falls and dies in battle. Selecting among half of those who die in battle (the other half go to the goddess Freyja’s afterlife field Fólkvangr), the valkyries bring their chosen to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla, ruled over by the god Odin. There, the deceased warriors become einherjar. When the einherjar are not preparing for the events of Ragnarök, the valkyries bear them mead. Valkyries also appear as lovers of heroes and other mortals, where they are sometimes described as the daughters of royalty, sometimes accompanied by ravens, and sometimes connected to swans or horses.

The Crimson Valkyrie

I played a game called Valkyrie Profile, and I really loved the story and the game play. It was for the psp and I still own it to this day (not very old…but old enough I guess with all the new games coming out and the new PSP Vita). Ever since then I really liked to imagine myself as a Valkyrie (sort of) and just for a moment have this interesting and powerful self. The Crimson Valkyrie is what I am, and although I’m not royalty, or recruit the soldiers that have fallen for the end of the world war, I like to think that I am still this enchanting character.

With that in mind, I am able to use it as inspiration for other characters I like to draw. There are only a few things that I really can produce with this idea in mind, but the things that are created, are none the less beautiful. So thank you and above is a tribute to that amazing idea that I hope never dies.
Be your own inspiration sometimes.
